Camiño dos Faros

Hiking Galicia

The Camiño dos Faros (The Lighthouse Way) is a wild, 200-kilometer hiking trail carved by the untamed forces of the Atlantic Ocean along Galicia's dramatic coast.

Spanning eight distinct stages, this coastal route links the port town of Malpica with Cape Finisterre—the legendary "end of the world." Historically feared by sailors as the Costa da Morte (Coast of Death), this rugged shoreline is now a sanctuary for hikers seeking pristine nature.

The route is anchored by several historic beacons, including the striking Faro Vilán, Spain's very first electric lighthouse. Thanks to the region's mild oceanic climate, the trail remains accessible, allowing you to hike amidst refreshing sea breezes and comfortable temperatures throughout the seasons.

The relentless meeting of land and sea creates a dynamic environment with rapidly changing scenery. As you walk, the trail transitions from sheer granite cliffs and sweeping sand dunes to peaceful estuaries and deep green pine forests.

It is a true coastal paradise, offering a deeply rewarding, off-the-beaten-path trekking experience at every turn.
